Queen Effy is back! - Skins Fire (2)

We're all aware of the structure of Skins episodes. The two-parter of each generation. Where the first season was filled with wild parties and casual sex, the second season that follows was all about consequences. The loss of party animal Chris, within the first generation (Season 2) and Freddie being brutally murdered in the second generation (Season 4). So it was only natural that this very last season of Skins followed that same structure.

In the first part of Skins Fire we got a glimpse of Effy Stonem's new life and how she manages to work her way up in the business world. We know that this episode will be the consiquence episode for Effy's actions last week by committing financial fraud. We open up several months later with Effy working living the high life while sleeping with her boss Jake on a regular basis, she's definitely got it so "fucking together".

Meanwhile, Naomi's health isn't looking that great, but "Naomly" fans would be happy to hear that Emily makes an appearance. Although Naomi decides to keep her cancer a secret during her visit. Right until the point where the doctors tell her that her condition is terminal.

Now this was the point I suspected the internet to explode...It did. Although I think the fate of these characters are just plain cruel on the writers part, I can't help but think it fits in well with the Skins theme. The ending for Effy's character however I thought was not what I would have expected.

MOTEL CALIFORNIA! (Teen Wolf S03E06)

I've probably said this about every episode this season, but I can't help it. Season 3 of Teen Wolf is just getting better each episode. I don't know what it is about the horror genre, I love the thrill of being scared. We've established that this season of Teen Wolf would be darker and more mature. Let me just take this time to list all the things I love about this show, The friendships (Scott/Stiles), Their ability to turn the most cliche character turn a not so cliche twist- if that even makes sense (Lydia), Successfully introducing a character halfway into the seasons with an interesting backstory and storyline (Isaac Lahey), Very goodlooking men losing their shirts and turning into werewolves every 3 minutes and Derek (sexy) Hale.

The episode starts off with a look at the past. A suicide that occurred inside a motel room. The screen then cuts off and the cross country team stops at the same motel for the night. The setting of this episode is amazingly creepy. Setting the mood for the audience. This episode was different to the others, it wasn't fast-paced and didn't show much of the on-going druid mystery, but it was effective. 'Motel California' was almost like a step aside from all the drama in Beacon Hills, in fact it was literally that. The psychological terror of this episode played with the minds of the werewolves, Scott, Boyd, Isaac, and Ethan.

In this episode the werewolves are acting strange, and it's up to team Stiles, Lydia and Allison to put together the clues and save the day- with the extra help of Lydia's weird abilities to hear things, of course. I'm dying to know what is up with her.

Meanwhile, the wounded Derek is being "nursed" back to health by the teacher Ms Jennifer Blake... you all know what happens next.

Back at the motel strange stuff was happening to the young werewolves, Boyd punching vending machines- maybe he was just hungry, but I think we were meant to view it as "strange" he was also hearing voices from the radio, voices from the past, I'm guessing, I wasn't completely sure, while also seeing girls in his freezer.

Isaac hallucinating about his dad yelling at him and being trapped inside the ice container.

Even Ethan, one of the big bad alpha twins starts to go crazy in the middle of making love to Danny.

Scott was found outside near to committing suicide after hallucinating that his mother died.

Lydia figures out a way to stop the werewolves from trying to kill themselves, fire.

In the end we found out that the reason the werewolves were acting suicidal was because someone put wolfsbane inside the coach's whistle- because that's not ridiculous at all, and it turns out the cross country was canceled so they all went back home.

At the end of the episode we see Allison's dad visit the grandpa, remember him? he went crazy at the end of season 2 after controlling Jackson and getting Derek to bite him so he won't have to die of cancer but he started bleeding black goo and the team took their eyes off him for a second and he ran off. Yeah, he's apparently in what looks like a werewolf retirement home or something? Anyway, I'm sure they'll explain it all next episode.

Queen Effy is back! - Skins Fire (1)

When the first talk of the last season to the legendary series Skins came around I have to admit I was a little skeptical. Growing up with the series I'd hate for them to ruin it by making it a more "mature" season.

The fun, noisy and rapid opening of Skins is now a quieter, straight forward theme that follows the episode. In this episode we follow the queen Effy herself as she has gone far from her crazy days in high school and is now spending her days getting coffee at a big firm. Throughout the episode we see her trying to work her way up with her old ways constantly tempting her, as we all know how much she loves danger and thrill.

While watching I was quite surprised at the whole episode, I wasn't sure what to think of it. It's a lot more deliberate and quick, I was impressed. Though I can't help but notice the resemblance between her boss and Freddie...
I can't wait to catch up with the other characters.

Would you rather: Vampires vs Werewolves

Let's forget about Team Edward or Team Jacob. The Salvatore brothers, Forwood/Klaroline and even the sexy cast of Teen Wolf and think about this. Vampires or Werewolves?

I've thought about this a lot lately and well, I love all things supernatural, ask anyone, I am a little obsessed with this kind of thing and I love movies. So with all the movies I've seen (yes, even the old black and white classics, they're my fave!) I think werewolves are the winner here.

Let's see...

Vampires are creatures of the night, they have pale skin, they're fast and can fly, they're charming and sophisticated and....immortal.

All these things can win you over, I mean, who doesn't want that pale, quite mysterious guy sitting on the opposite side of the classroom who once you get to know is very charming and caring and smart, right? That is until you find out he's actually a blood sucking creature and hundred and something years old...or technically dead. I mean come on, their weaknesses are Sunlight, holy water, crosses and garlic. What? I mean, sure holy water and crosses are easy enough to stay away from, if you're not religious, but, garlic? Imagine how bad they would be to take to a dinner, isn't garlic in almost everything? Not to mention all they drink is blood which means you can't share an ice cream with them or be all couple cute by feeding each other in public like people do. What about sunlight, you can't take them to the beach to hang out with your other friends, they'll start to think this friend of yours is imaginary and cut you out. The final thought is, THEY'RE ALREADY DEAD, are you really considering necrophilia? Think about that.

Werewolves are shapeshifters, they're aggressive and almost like normal wolves, if not bigger, they're strong and fast, they can also heal themselves.

Basically they're just your average person...with a slight ability to turn into an animal and kill people. But, unlike the vampire they're not scared of a little sunlight, in fact they probably really love outdoors-y activities, they're only weakness is silver bullets and wolfs bane so as long as you get rid of those you're set. I mean, seriously, having a werewolf around is so much better, they're not dead corpses, they're not afraid of garlic which means taking them out to dinner will be heaps of fun and normal. They're strong and muscly, I mean, come on, that one goes without saying. I mean, yes, it's TECHNICALLY bestiality but I garuntee as soon as they take of their shirt you'll foget all about that, plus they're not corpses, which will make you sleep better at night.

Flashbacks are surprisingly effective. (Teen Wolf S03E05)

Let me just breathe for a second, because I was not doing any of that throughout the episode. MAKING US THINK DEREK WAS DEAD UNTIL THE VERY END?! HOW DARE YOU WRITERS DO THIS TO US!

The episode starts off with the whole school team being on a bus, including Ethan, Boyd, Isaac, Stiles, Scott and Danny, let me just point out that I really like the whole "Danny/Ethan" thing, and that's saying something because I haven't found a good on-screen gay couple that didn't annoy me, only because they're usually either too over the top or really whiny, so this who "crushing" thing that happened within this episode was really cute. Anyway, Isaac and Boyd look like they're about to flip the bus over and Scott is dying because of an alpha wound at the back of the bus next to Stiles. Meanwhile, Allison and Lydia are in the car behind the bus following them.

This episode was basically a flashback episode, which I thought was very effective, although it did make the episode seem far more shorter. Before we cut to the flashback we hear Scott mention that Derek was dead, that was when I lost the will to live, because...it's Derek. We then flashback to Scott finding out where Deucalion (yes, I've learnt how to spell his name) and the rest of his pack lives, he tells Derek who is already plotting a plan, let me just add that I underestimated Cora, I think she's a great addition to the group.

So basically in the flashback, Scott tries to confront Deucalion with Isaac which then turns out that Derek was following them, of course that led to the rest of the alpha pack showing up and the fight began. I must say I never really liked Allison but I have to admit if it wasn't for her they would've all died.

Back in the present day Scott's wound isn't healing and Allison tries to stitch it up for him because Lydia suggested that it could all just be in his head, I love Lydia and her random moments to show off how smart she is. In attempt to stall the coach from leaving without Scott, Isaac somehow found out about what was happening to Scott and lost it as he starts to beat the crap out of Ethan. Isaac is so cute how he only listens to Scott!

The episode then ends with Derek once again scaring the life out of Ms Jennifer Blake as he hits her car window with a bloodied hand before falling to the ground. Now, I've said this before, I have nothing against the teacher but why would Derek go to her out of everyone? I get it it's a great gateway to the potential love interest thing they've got going but...logistically someone like Derek Hale who has obviously got major trust issues would go to someone he's met twice for 3 seconds? really.

(Side note: Did anyone else love the scene where Deucalion visits Dennis at the vet place and pokes his eyes out?! I mean, I love all blood and gore but that actually made my jaw drop! Looks like there's promise in this TV Show villain)

I don't own any gif/images used above.
